Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit Opening
Bradford District NHS Care Trust’s new Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) was opened on 3 May 2013 by the Lord Mayor Dale Smith who conducted the cutting of the ribbon as part of his 806th formal engagement of the year. The event was attended by around 100 members of staff, Service Users and Contractors and Cygnet Healthcare a local private sector PICU provider.
The new unit is absolutely stunning and a real credit to all of the staff involved in the planning process. The unit really does set a gold standard for state of the art intensive support in a safe environment and has been carefully set out to support a calm and spacious environment. The current users of PICU will transfer across from the existing Airedale unit which will pave the way for the commencement of re-design and refurbishment for older people’s inpatient services.
